Dr Kirstin Mulholland is a former primary school teacher, and is currently working as a lecturer in Education at Northumbria University. Her doctoral thesis explored the impacts of promoting peer collaboration and discussion on pupils’ attainment and self-concept for maths, as well as the development of metacognition. Kirstin is currently working with UK organisations such as the Maths Hub network, and the Education Endowment Foundation to support teachers to understand the concept of metacognition as well as how to support the development of this in the classroom.
