Dr Vincent Chian

Principal - Fairview International School, Malaysia
Confirmed

A medical graduate from Manchester university and a former Psychiatry Registrar, Vincent joined the Family business in 2009. Over six years, Fairview grew from two to five international schools across Malaysia, from serving 500 to over 3000 learners from over 50 countries. Fairview International School’s unique mission is to provide accessible and high quality education to Asia by becoming a centre of academic excellence, a hub for teacher education and a focal point for communities to build upon. Fairview has served Malaysia for the last 40 years touching over 20,000 lives in the process.

Dr Vincent is also actively involved with the International Baccalaureate Diploma programme and IT infrastructure at the group. Under his leadership, the programme has achieved a dazzling average score of 37 out of 45 points. Sadly, IB Diploma programmes are the most expensive pre-university programme in the market. In line with Fairview’s Mission statement, Vincent set up a scholarship fund that provides over RM 2 million each year for deserving children to study the IB Diploma programme at Fairview, the largest private IB Diploma scholarship in Malaysia. His other interests include setting up a unique skills development programme at Fairview as well as educational technology. Vincent is a graduate of the Tsinghua-Insead Executive MBA programme.

As Principal of Fairview Kuala Lumpur, Vincent actively champions initiatives that ensure that education at fairview nurtures learners of strong character, enthusiastic about life and have the skills to be self regulated in their pursuit of lifelong learning. He believes strongly in the value of accountability, responsibility, trust, respect, discipline and servant leadership.

Dr Vincent also sits on the Board of Family Business Network(FBN), an organisation by family businesses for family businesses dedicated to helping families think in generations, not quarters. He actively participates on the FBN NextGen international team and sits on the FBN Malaysian Committee.

Dr Vincent regularly speaks at conferences and conducts workshops in the areas of leadership, technology, family business, organisational change, holistic education, teacher development and skill development in schools.
