Fathma Mauger

Fathma Mauger graduated in 1986 from Charles Darwin University, Northern Territory (NT), Australia. Afterwards, she completed a Master of Education (Honours) and a Graduate Diploma in Public Sector Executive Management.

Fathma has worked in the NT education system for 36 years and been a Principal for 13 years. At present, she is the Principal of Larrakeyah Primary School in Darwin, NT.

She is highly interested in school improvement and is a trained Australian Council of Educational Research (ACER) NT Lead Reviewer, which involves reviewing school performance against a national teaching and learning framework.

Larrakeyah Primary was selected as one of the first six Independent Public Schools in the NT. The school is an accredited Cambridge International School.

Fathma was awarded NT Principal of the Year, Darwin Region 2021 and is a 2022 finalist in the Australian Education Awards – Principal of the Year (Government). Larrakeyah Primary is a high performing school and has been recognized at a national and international level – 2022 Finalist school in the Australian Education Awards – Best STEM program, Finalist in the 2021 International School Awards, and one of the top 10 shortlisted schools in the 2022 World’s Best School Prizes.

Fathma is inspired by innovation in education and programs to extend students’ learning, twenty-first century learning skills, inquiry programs, QUEST, and STEAM.

Larrakeyah Primary has international partnerships with schools in Singapore, China, and Malaysia.
