Tim Richardson began his teaching career in the UK as a Primary School teacher but having grown up as a child of expatriate parents, very quickly decided teaching overseas was his career of choice. After initially intending to teach in the UAE for a year, Tim’s first appointment was 11 years at the same international school where he held numerous positions, eventually Deputy Head, Early Years. Subsequently the school owners asked Tim to open their second school in Dubai as Head of Primary, where he remained for the next 5 years.
In 2011, Tim was appointed Head of Primary at Dubai’s first IB Continuum school, by now already well established in the region and helped develop teaching and learning in particular to ‘Outstanding’ according to the local school inspection service.
In January 2018, the school group asked Tim to take over as Principal of a school that had experienced a succession of unexpected changes in leadership and was looking to develop performance in almost all areas. For the next almost 4 years, Tim led this UKNC school on their journey to ‘Outstanding’ (BSO November 2021).
In December 2021, Tim and his wife decided to explore new opportunities outside of the Middle East and in January, he accepted the position of Principal at the British School of Guangzhou, one of 81 Nord Anglia Education schools worldwide. Since August of this year, Tim has had the privilege of leading this amazing learning community as it enters its next phase of development.
