Alun Yorath

Alun was educated at Monmouth School, the oldest school in Wales and the leading all-boys Welsh boarding school. He read Pharmacology at Bristol University before training as a science teacher gaining his PGCE from Bristol University in 1997. It was Alun’s experiences drawn from his time as a pupil at an exceptional boarding school that led him to want to teach. Since then he has worked in leading schools in the UK including Magdalen College School, Oxford the top all-boys’ school in the UK at the time and St Paul’s Girls’ School, London, arguably the leading UK school for the last 20 years. In 2009 Alun and his artist wife, Natasha, left London to move to Abu Dhabi, where their three young children were born.

Alun was the founding Deputy Head Master of Brighton College Abu Dhabi which opened in September 2011 before moving to Al Ain as the founding Head Master of Brighton College Al Ain in December 2012; in August 2014 Alun returned to Abu Dhabi as the Head Master of Brighton College Abu Dhabi. In January 2017 Alun and his family relocated to Europe beginning in his new role as Principal of The British School Warsaw overseeing significant growth and development of what was already the highest achieving IB Diploma school in Central and Eastern Europe as it began its 25th Anniversary year celebrations.
