In addition to being appointed as the Chief Education Officer for the Repton Family of Schools in the UAE, Mr. David Cook took up the reigns as Headmaster of Repton School Dubai in 2017, to build on the school’s past successes and maintain its standing as an ‘Outstanding’ rated institution. Working closely with 160 teachers and a dedicated group of support staff, Repton is determined to pursue excellence in every area of school life, whether in the classroom or on the sports pitch, enabling each of the 1800 pupils to fulfil their potential.

Mr. Cook brings over 25 years of educational experience and leadership to the position, with a passion for the welfare and success of each individual pupil and adult in the school. Elite institutions like Repton are based on strong values such as compassion, courage and curiosity.  Under his leadership, all the staff and pupils are encouraged to give their best and achieve world-class results.

Mr. Cook started his teaching career at Caterham School, a large London day and boarding school, and later became the Deputy Headmaster of Queen Elizabeth Hospital School in Bristol.  In 2005, he was appointed Headmaster of Merchant Taylors’ School, one of the leading schools in the North of England, and has also served as Chairman of HMC North West, a professional association comprised of heads of some of the world’s leading independent schools.

Prior to teaching, Mr. Cook completed a short-service commission in the British Army, was trained at the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst and holds a BA (Hons) in History and an MA in Victorian Literature and History from Birkbeck College, University of London. David is married to Carla, an EAL teacher, has two children and he has a passion for rugby, history and the mountains, where he is a qualified Mountain Leader.
